Home Loan Specialists was established by Craig Olmsted and Connie Tarhanich in November of 1997. Home Loan Specialist is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lender Ltd. Craig and Connie worked together at Mutual Financial, a broker operation in Farmington Hills for 5 years prior to opening HLS. As the mortgage industry continued to grow and evolve both Craig and Connie realized to control the loan process and insure the level of customer service they wanted to provide they would need to be a Mortgage Banker. Through the affiliation with Lender Ltd, HLS would be a Mortgage Banker and would have the ability to underwriter their own loans and close loans on their own funds.

Craig and Connie spent the first 5 years building a team of veteran sales and support staff. They have closed over ½ billion dollars in residential mortgages during that same 5 year period. Today Home Loan Specialists employs approximately 15 sales people under the guidance of Todd Starkey and has a support staff of another 7 individuals. HLS is licensed in multiple states.
